The exhibition Messengers of Magic. African puppets and masks presents one aspect of the immensely rich traditional culture of Sub-Saharan Africa, unveiling the secret behind African magic. It can be visited at the Náprstek Museum of Asian, African and American Cultures in Prague, from March 27 to August 24.

Visitors can learn about mask making and puppet theatre, which is an integral part of African culture. Legends from the distant past of individual ethnic groups come to life through marionettes and masks. There are 400 exhibits presented in two halls in this exhibit, while a number of accompanying inter-active events take place during the event.

The two halls of the exhibition building present approximately 100 exhibits and a collection of haptic objects. A number of accompanying inter-active events for children and their parents are taking place during the exhibition.

Other exhibitions at the Náprstek Museum
Besides visiting the Messengers of Magic exhibition at the Náprstek's Museum, do not miss to see the recently opened exhibition A Measure of Happiness with photographs from Mali that runs until July 27. The pictures on display were taken by the Czech Ambassador to Algiers, Milan Šarapatek, who captured the people as proof that living means more than possessing; and having possessions doesn’t necessarily bring happiness.

Also on show until the end of the year, is the exhibit on Vojta Náprstek (until Dec. 31), a famous Prague patron, philanthropist, patriot, founder of the museum and politician.
