Info

St. Catherine of Italy is a baroque chapel, dedicated to St. Catherine, the patron saint of the Italian Knights. It is situated opposite the Church of Our Lady of Victory, right near the Upper Barakka Gardens. The original chapel was built by Gerolamo Cassar in 1576, while the present one was given a new facade in the 18th century, designed by Romano Carapecchia. On its walls, there are some fine paintings, mainly by Mattia Preti, reputed to be one of the earliest that he did in Malta.
